Production and Engineering Work
Dayna's production career began when she was just 17 years old, producing Sean Ono Lennon and her track "My Kind" for her debut record "Volume 1" (EMI). This experience kickstarted her self-proclaimed "going to school" for production and engineering, paying close attention whenever she found herself in a recording studio, immersed amongst the likes of Jim Scott, Rick Rubin, Don Was, Tom Lord Alge and Dave Kalmusky.
Dayna co-produced a record for herself, (Folkyo 2006) and her band Trent Severn, (Trent Severn 2011) and has since gone on to produce and engineer both Trent Severn's sophomore and third releases, (Trillium 2015 and Portage 2017). After these projects boost her confidence, she then helped a few local Stratford songwriters with projects, co-producing Brad Canning's "Behind Closed Doors" in 2019 and producing Hannah Thomas' debut record "Christmas Don't Be Late" in 2020.
She was nominated for producer of the year at the 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards for her acclaimed Chamber folk album "Morning Light".
Dayna has produced and engineered several national television commercials and branded an entire radio station, all from her home studio in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Dayna firmly believes that production starts with a great song, so as a writer, she finds producing a natural fit.
